Welcome to RUF at UNF! Regardless of your beliefs or doubts, RUF is a safe place for you to explore Christianity and grow in your understanding of who Jesus is and what it means to follow him in community with others at UNF.
After spending the first three years of his life rolling through snow in Iceland, Tommy and his family settled down just outside Jacksonville, FL. It was during his high school years here that Tommy responded in faith to the gospel. Powerfully compelled by Jesus' love for him, Tommy pursued a calling into ministry which led him to complete a degree in Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry at Trinity College in Trinity, FL. Later he received his Masters in Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando in 2007. It was during these years that he met and married his wonderful wife, Nikki. Desiring to share the transforming love of Christ with youth, Tommy served at River Ridge Presbyterian Church in youth ministry for eight years before accepting the call to serve college students at the great University of North Florida in his hometown of Jacksonville. During their time at UNF, Tommy and Nikki have welcomed their three delightful children Tili, Asher, and Izzy into their lives filled with lots of adventuring in the great outdoors, eating warm meals with hungry college students, and creating a home where the lonely and struggling can find rest. When Tommy is not meeting with college students at Starbucks, he can be found watching football (GO JAGS!!!), doing CrossFit, or coaching soccer. Tommy and Nikki are passionate about serving college students faithfully.
Born in the lush jungles of Colombia, Daniel moved with his family to the great state of Georgia in the summer of 2001. After spending an idyllic childhood in the Atlanta area, Daniel moved to Athens, GA in 2012 to attend college at the University of Georgia. There, he became involved with RUF, where he had the opportunity to serve on the leadership team. By some sort of miracle and after paying several parking tickets, Daniel graduated in 2015 with a degree in Mass Media Arts. He's excited to be living in Jacksonville, where he hopes to get to know students and become the best intern this side of the Mississippi. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys critiquing Olive Garden commercials, forgetting to do the laundry, and not paying bills. When he's not talking about how he's gonna start riding his bike again, Daniel can be seen browsing through music stores wondering why Justin Bieber made it and he didn't. He has also been working on his beach bod in much the same way people have been looking for Bigfoot the last few decades.
