Bobby grew up in north Dallas and came to know the Lord through the faithful witness of friends and mentors during his college years at Texas A&M, which is also where he met his lovely wife, Rachel. On their first date, Rachel proudly showed off her calculator, and Bobby read her poetry from John Donne; somehow, it worked out. After graduating, they moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina, where Bobby earned a Master of Arts from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Before joining RUF, Bobby spent over a decade in local churches and cross-cultural missions, including work among refugees in Atlanta and pastoral ministry in Springfield, Missouri. Those years deepened his desire to walk with students as they wrestle with questions of faith, identity, and calling, helping them see the goodness of Jesus in the gospel. Now at UT Arlington, he especially enjoys opening Scripture with students, sharing life with them, and encouraging them to live out their faith on campus and beyond.

Bobby and Rachel have four young kids who ensure there’s never a dull moment—or a clean floor. When he’s not playing with them, you can find Bobby and Rachel filling their table with food and friends, lingering over a long conversation, exercising, playing board games, or collapsing into sleep.
