Welcome to L.A.! We are glad you are here at USC. We know how important it is to have real connection with others on a campus found in such a sprawling city as Los Angeles. At RUF, we strive to be an authentic community that is not only supportive and spiritually challenging, but also outward-facing to our peers on campus.
Jesus said that he did not come to save the righteous, but sinners. At RUF, we are a group that does not have it all together and so talks incessantly and desperately about the grace of God. To be a part of RUF, all you need is a "need", a curiosity about the need for grace. If you are looking to grow in your faith....we've got a place for you. If you are unsure of your high school faith and have questions...we've got a place for you. If you have never been to church before and just want to see what Christianity is...we've got a place for you. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact us. We would love to get to know you!

Ty Gregory
Ty is a SoCal native, born and raised outside of Los Angeles. He didn’t hear the life-altering Gospel Story until college. Soon after he was compelled to go to seminary, eventually earning his MA in Biblical and Theological Studies from Westminster Seminary California. He most recently served as a Pastoral Resident at Denver Presbyterian Church, teaching and preaching regularly while overseeing the Youth Group and launching a Singles ministry. He met his lovely wife, Karen, while studying abroad in Israel. Their wild and friendly daughter, Mila, is one year old and she loves students!
Ty is honored and thrilled to continue the work at USC. He enjoys running, basketball (go Warriors!), traveling, reading, and meaningful conversations with friends. He is excited to turn students into coffee connoisseurs and foodies in LA. Most of all, he can’t wait to witness spiritual friendships deepen and widen as students follow Jesus with everything they have.
Madeleine Dorst
Madeleine grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2020 with a degree in English and an unofficial minor in RUF. After doing the internship for two years, she’s excited to stay here at USC RUF on staff! She enjoys reading, watching and reviewing movies, a good dance party, dark chocolate everything, walks, and playing board games. She loves exploring L.A with students and talking about God, life, art, and everything in between.
