Welcome to RUF at KU! Here at RUF, we're all about the life-changing grace of Jesus Christ. Our goal on campus is to reach students with the gospel and to equip them to serve Jesus in the church. College is a time of great joy, deep learning, and also serious questions. Who am I? What do I believe? What do I love? The gospel of Jesus Christ—the free gift of forgiveness offered to all people because of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection—provides answers to these difficult questions: you are fully known and deeply loved by the God of the universe. The gospel brings healing to the broken, comfort to the hurting, and rest for the weary. As such, it is not just head knowledge, but it changes how we live!
We want to be people evidently changed by the gospel. We strive to love God, love and respect others, and be marked by joy.
There's a place for everyone at RUF! Whether you're a cynic, a skeptic, a new Christian, a lifelong believer, or just looking for a community wherein you belong, RUF is the place for you.

Meet Our Team

Quinn Sloan
Quinn considers himself something of a nomad—he lived in eight states before graduating college. At Wheaton College, Quinn met his wife Emily; the two graduated in 2020 and married later that summer. Immediately after the wedding, they moved to San Diego. There, Emily worked for a large general contractor, and Quinn studied at Westminster Seminary CA, receiving his MDiv in 2023. During this whirlwind phase of life, they welcomed their daughter, Peyton Alice (b. February 2022). The Sloans added baby John (b. March 2024) to their family in the Spring.
Quinn enjoys sports (playing and watching), music, checking out new restaurants, and sharing about what God has done in his life. Together, Quinn and Emily love hosting game nights, watching movies and going on walks with Peyton and John. The Sloan family is overjoyed to be in Lawrence and excited to see the Lord work through RUF at KU. Rock Chalk!

Ronnie Hoover
Cameron Hoover (friends call her Ronnie!) grew up moving often, though her family now calls Athens, Alabama home. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in December 2024 with her bachelor’s degree in visual arts and a minor in psychology.
The Lord graciously led her to RUF during the very first week of her freshman year, and it quickly became a place of belonging, growth, and joy. Through RUF, she experienced deep community, challenging teaching, and the everyday grace of walking with Jesus. Now, she’s so excited to have the opportunity to serve the students at the University of Kansas similarly, walking alongside them as a full-time friend and mentor. Moving to Kansas will mark the eighth state she’s lived in — and she’s eager to see what this new chapter holds.
Ronnie loves all things creative, especially painting, and finds joy in using art as a way to reflect the beauty and complexity of God’s world. She enjoys spending time outdoors—whether hiking, hammocking, or just taking a slow walk with a good playlist. She’s almost always reading something, often with a cup of coffee nearby, and has a soft spot for cozy bookstores and long conversations. She's always down for a game of pick-up volleyball or competitive Spikeball and loves learning about and rooting for new sports—especially if it means getting to cheer alongside friends. Whether creating, exploring, or just sitting with friends, she loves finding joy in the little things and making space for others to do the same.
