University of Arkansas

Join us every Wednesday night at 8PM on the Downtown Square (101 W Mountain St)

RUF is a place for University of Arkansas students to experience the grace and love of Jesus through life-giving community, intentional discipleship, and a growing understanding of God's word. We're a community of people who know we don't have it all together, and so we are learning together what it means to grow in our faith, love the people around us, and live in light of the redemptive love of Jesus.

Austin Royal

Austin Royal

Campus Minister

Austin grew up in Macon, Georgia and attended undergrad at the University of Georgia where he studied Communication. Right after graduating he married his amazing wife Anna Caroline and moved to Baton Rouge where he served as an intern with RUF at LSU for two years. They learned to love college students and cook cajun food down in the bayou. He is a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia where he received a Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in counseling. Before moving to Fayetteville he served as the RUF campus minister at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee for four years. Anna Caroline received a degree in nursing from Medical College of Georgia. She loves taking care of people and teaching. They have a three year old daughter named Linley who is a social butterfly and loves to sing and dance. Their interests include cooking (smoking), sports, music, yard games, and being in the outdoors. They are excited to be back in the SEC and can’t wait to explore all the wonderful outdoor activities that NW Arkansas has to offer. Woo Pig Sooie!!

Myles Hendrick

Myles Hendrick

Intern

Myles is number four of five kids in a wonderfully close family. He grew up all around the south in Nashville, Gadsden, and Augusta. He graduated from Auburn with a major in management. He loves music, sports, and hanging out with his friends. While never having lived in Arkansas and having only been to the state once, Myles is excited to be apart of Arkansas RUF!

Rebecca Spurgeon

Rebecca Spurgeon

Intern

Rebecca (Hatton) Spurgeon is from OKC and just graduated from the University of Arkansas (spring 2020) with a degree majoring in Spanish and minors in Psychology and African American studies. Rebecca joined RUF her first week of college and joined the worship team the second. RUF was her saving grace and lifeline in college. It gave her community and a safe place to take off her mask. Because of how RUF ministered to Rebecca, she realized her calling to ministry and love for Arkansas so she will be staying at the UofA to do the RUF internship.

As an intern Rebecca looks forward to entering into the messy lives of college students and watching the gospel transform lives. Aside from her love of ministry, Rebecca’s favorite things are traveling the world, being active outside, cooking, drinking a kombucha, and talking about emotions. She cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for the next 2 yrs.
