Thanks for checking out RUF at UAB! We are a fellowship of students who desire to enjoy God, to equip God's people through the college years, and to extend God's grace. We strive to be a safe place where people from all different walks of life can come to find community, enjoy friendship, and to consider the words of Jesus Christ. We look forward to meeting you!

Meet Our Team
Brad Owens
Brad enjoys reading, swimming, running, good food, and spending time with Anna and the kiddos, as well as the always-satisfying bowl of ice cream!
Amy Kesler
Amy (Hudson) Kesler is a graduate of Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA where she received her degree in Middle Grades Education. After teaching in Birmingham for a few years, she taught missionary kids in rural western Uganda with World Harvest Mission (now Serge). Amy joined RUF in 2011 at Samford University for three years. In 2014, she moved to start RUF at Meredith College, a women's college in Raleigh, NC. In 2019, she returned to Birmingham with RUF at UAB.
Amy enjoys cooking at home with her husband, Scott, being with friends, listening to podcasts, traveling, and reading. More favorite things include her dog, Jasper, being outdoors, plants, house projects and watching documentaries. Amy is grateful God has called her to UAB and considers it a great privilege to be a part of God's work on that campus.
Julia Bryan
Julia is from Nashville, TN, and is the oldest of four kids from parents who met through RUF at UT Martin. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in art education in 2024. She spent her first two years of college at UT Knoxville, then transferred to UTC and found RUF at both schools to be a constant in times of change. RUF has impacted her life by providing her with a close knit community and is excited to serve the organization that has been such a big part of her life! Julia loves her friends and family, reading (find her on Goodreads!!!), hosting (and feeding!) people in her home, and going for walks in local parks. She is looking forward to exploring new local restaurants, parks and coffee shops and calling Birmingham home.
