Meet Our Team
Peter Shaner
Peter grew up in Lexington, VA, and attended college at Randolph-Macon College where he led Young-Life and played on the golf team for 4 years. In Charlotte, he met his wife, Sam, and attended Reformed Theological Seminary. For 4 years, Peter served as Campus Ministry Assistant with RUF at Clemson University where they welcomed their daughter, Harper, into the world. The Shaners are grateful and excited to reach and equip college students in Milwaukee for the sake of the Gospel.
McKenna (Coartney) Smith
McKenna Smith (formerly Coartney) grew up in the small town of Eureka, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in dance and psychology. During her time there, the Lord used RUF to deepen her understanding of the Gospel and show her the beauty of His grace. After graduating, McKenna had the privilege of serving as an intern with RUF at Middle Tennessee State University for two years. She is excited for the opportunity to return to Milwaukee and walk alongside students in the city she came to love during her own college years. In July 2024, she married her husband, Garrett. McKenna enjoys dancing, paddleboarding, drinking coffee, hiking, lifting, and spending time in God’s creation.
