RUF is a campus ministry that seeks to be an honest community for the convinced and unconvinced to explore historic Christianity and learn together what it means to follow Jesus with our whole lives.
Meet Our Team
Michael is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary in Saint Louis, MO. He grew up in Texas and attended Belhaven University where he studied Business Administration. It was at Belhaven that he first became involved in RUF and was able to work with his follow students as a Resident Assistant in campus housing for three years. After graduating college in 2007, he went on to serve as an intern with Lagniappe Presbyterian Church on the Hurricane Katrina ravaged Gulf Coast. Michael then returned to the college context, interning with RUF at the University of Tennessee from 2008-2010. Given a free Saturday morning, you would likely find Michael running, reading, cooking, gardening, enjoying sports, and spending time with people.
Noah was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2021 with a degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Religion. He married his high school sweetheart, Julia, soon afterwards! During his time with RUF at UGA, he grew in the knowledge of God's grace and felt a calling towards relational ministry. He is excited to get to know students at Georgia Tech and experience how the Lord will be at work in Atlanta! Noah loves all things Georgia football, quoting "The Office," playing a round of golf, and finding a good wing place (which he has heard the ATL has plenty of).
Jess is from Anderson, Indiana and is a recent graduate of Purdue University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Food and Farm Systems. In May of 2020 she married her best friend and RUF crush, Alex Rockhold! Jess cannot wait to serve RUF as an intern and to walk along students as they see their need for Jesus and learn more about the gospel and grace! In her free time Jess loves exploring new coffee shops, taking care of her house plants, dancing, and spending time in the great outdoors hiking, hammocking, and chasing sunsets! She is so excited to be in Atlanta and meet with the students at Georgia Tech and see how God is working in their lives and on the campus!
Betsy (Phillips) Scott
Betsy is from El Dorado, Arkansas, and graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where she majored in Ancient Mediterranean Studies and minored in Religious studies. Betsy quickly became involved with RUF at Rhodes, and there she met her best friends and her husband, Nate, who is an intern with RUF International. Betsy loves art, her family, and nature. Her biggest hobby is knitting, usually sweaters, and usually for herself. Betsy recalls how God worked in her life through her RUF interns and staff at Rhodes, and is excited to share and show the gospel to a new group of students.
