Furman University

Join us Thursday nights at 8 in Daniel Chapel for friends, music, and God's Word (and snacks).

For more than 20 years, RUF has been reaching Furman students for Christ and equipping them to serve the church. RUF is open to all students - the convinced and the unconvinced, the bored and the passionate, the faithful and the skeptic. RUF is a place known for warm fellowship, faithful Bible teaching, theological depth, and substantial worship.

Tom Hart

Tom Hart

Campus Minister

Tom Hart was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. While studying at the University of Georgia, he got involved with RUF, where he encountered Jesus for the first time. He also met his wife, Chané, in history class, who is originally from South Africa but grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. After college, Tom served as an RUF intern at Auburn University, then attended Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, then planted a new chapter of RUF at East Carolina University. After serving at ECU for 6 years, the Harts made the transition to Furman, which is in Chane's hometown of Greenville, SC. Tom and Chané spend most of their free time thoroughly enjoying their four children, Simon (born in 2012), Ragan (born in 2014), Bauer (born 2016), and Catherine (born 2018)

Ann Beverly Retcher

Ann Beverly Retcher

Campus Staff

Ann Beverley is originally from Virginia. She grew up in Richmond and attended Virginia Tech for college. She started attending RUF her sophomore year, and she quickly developed a passion for ministry and the Gospel under the care of her Campus Minister and Interns. She then went on to be the RUF Intern at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. After an amazing two years, she moved to St. Louis to get her Masters of Biblical Studies at Covenant Theological Seminary. She looks forward to full-time ministry at Furman University, hopeful in what God has in store for all in Greenville, South Carolina.

Kate Nobles

Kate Nobles

Intern

Kate is from Rome, Ga (the eighth wonder of the world) and went to college at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2021, she graduated with a BA in history education from BSC. While at BSC, Kate was involved with RUF all four years, and the Lord showed her how much she loved to serve and do ministry through her time in RUF. Through RUF, Kate found a community of believers and made deep and long-lasting friendships. Kate loves to spend her free time at coffee shops, cooking, watching New Girl or Downton Abbey, and hiking. She is so excited to get to serve the students of Furman University, share the gospel, and help students find community.
