Welcome to RUF at CofC! We are a campus ministry where you can find a real connection with God and a real connection with students and leaders who actually care about you.

At RUF you will be encouraged with the hope that Jesus saves sinners, challenged to be transformed by God’s grace, and equipped to make a difference in the church and the world.

Whether you’re lost or found, burned or bored, cynical or spiritual, this is a place you can call home. Come join us!

Seth Gurley

Seth Gurley

Campus Minister

Seth and his wife, Jillian, grew up together in Anderson, SC. Seth graduated from Erskine College in 2017 where RUF was absolutely pivotal in his walk with the Lord and call to ministry. In 2018, Seth and Jillian got married in their hometown church and then spent three years together in Charlotte, NC where Seth received an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary. After seminary, he took a call to serve as an associate pastor in Pittsburgh at Murrysville Community Church (PCA). In 2025, Seth received the call to serve as the RUF Campus Minister at College of Charleston. Seth and Jillian are excited to be back home in South Carolina spending time with students and serving in a ministry that means so much to them.

Seth loves exploring the great outdoors, reading good books, attempting to stay in shape, and finding all the good restaurants with Jillian.

EllaCait Downs

EllaCait Downs

Intern

EllaCait was born and raised in Southern California, but moved across the country to attend the University of South Carolina for college. There she graduated with a B.A. in Public Health and minors in dance and psychology. RUF greatly shaped and impacted her college experience and really helped her navigate the ups and downs of those four years. She loves the beach, new coffee shops, Italian food, South Carolina football (Go Cocks!), and anything active. She is thrilled to continue her journey with RUF by moving to Charleston, and looks forward to loving on and encouraging the students at CofC!
