Rob Herron
Rob and Mary Lee, along with their son Robert (born May 2018), moved from Athens, GA to Boone in December of 2019. They are delighted to be a part of the App Nation and App Family, and they are passionate about investing in the place God has brought them. Their daughter, Fay, was born in July of 2021.
Rob received his Bachelors from the University of Tennessee in 2011 and his Masters of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2014. Before moving to Boone, Rob was the Associate Pastor of Youth at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Athens for five years. Mary Lee received both her Bachelors and Masters from the University of Georgia, and she and Rob were married in 2015.
The Lord has blessed and RUF to reach and equip App students for over two decades. Rob and Mary Lee are grateful they have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful ministry and community. GO NEERS!

Carissa Waller
Carissa moved to Boone, NC in the fall of 2018 to work as an intern with RUF at Appalachian. Boone and its community has captured her heart, and so she is so delighted that the Lord, in His kindness, has called her to work as Campus Staff at Appalachian starting June 2020!
Carissa grew up in Nashville, TN and attended college at Western Kentucky University, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, with a concentration in Child Studies. While a student at WKU, Carissa so enjoyed playing rugby on the university's club team. She misses those days!
Carissa loves her dog, Pepper, and you can often find them walking or hiking together, laying in the sun, wrestling, cuddling, and howling at each other. Pepper was adopted during Carissa's senior year of college, and the two of them have been inseparable since.
RUF has changed Carissa's life! God's work has been so evident and clear, and so she is humbled and thankful for what He's doing and for the ways He has lovingly pursued her. Carissa is excited to see how the Lord will continue to work in the coming years, particularly through RUF at Appalachian. Go 'neers!

Danny Waller
Danny grew up in Columbia, SC, a criminally underrated city. He stayed in Columbia, and went to the University of South where got his bachelors in History. Danny loves sports (unfortunately, given his alma mater's lack of success), binging TV shows, movies, and just about anything that involves chilling with friends. He's pumped to go to such a beautiful area and school as App State, and is thrilled to see the Lord at work there!
