Welcome to R.U.F. at B.S.C. We are a campus ministry open to all students regardless of background or belief. R.U.F. is for the convinced and the unconvinced, the believer and the burned out. We love the college campus and believe the four years a student is in college are the best years to figure out what they believe about God, themselves, and this world.

Tom Franklin

Tom grew up in Austin, TX and came to Birmingham Southern College for undergrad. He played baseball at B.S.C. from '95-'99. After graduation he remained on campus working in the Admission Office for three years. Then he attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO where he got his Masters of Divinity. In 2005 he returned to Birmingham to start a new R.U.F. ministry at Birmingham Southern College. That same year he met Kristin and they have now been married since 2006. Tom and Kristin have two children: Thomas, Jr. is 3 and Lila is 2. They also have a dog, Chelsea, and live in Homewood.

Mary-Ashley Seabrook

Mary-Ashley grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas in 2014 with a degree in Corporate Communications. She got plugged into RUF her freshman year at SMU and realized during her senior year that God wanted her to remain connected to this ministry beyond graduation. This is her third year as the girls' intern at Birmingham Southern College and she couldn't love it more!

Mary-Ashley has a brother, Hunt, at Ole Miss and a sister, Kate, in high school. She enjoys working out, Dancing with the Stars, cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels, and loves a good piece of chocolate cake!

Lindsey Simpkins

Lindsey was raised in Cary, North Carolina and attended college at Appalachian State University. She graduated from AppState with a degree in Commercial Photography and a minor in Entrepreneurship. Freshman year, she followed her older brother to RUF large group and began attending RUF regularly after a new friend invited her to a community group at her home. She loves avocados, will drink iced coffee in any temperature, and feels most at home in the mountains.
