Our mission in RUF at WKU is to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve. What this means is we long to be a ministry that demonstrates and offers the generous kindness of Jesus Christ to all students on campus, and invite them into a community where they can experience, receive and grow in his love during college. We seek to accomplish this mission through nights of worship every Wednesday, weekly small groups discussions and Bible studies, one on one conversations, and also through conferences and parties. No matter who you are, or what you believe, we hope you will join us and experience for yourself the welcome and hospitality of the Lord Jesus.

James Jardin
James was born in Italy as the son of a career Air Force officer. He first attended University of West Florida for two years & then finished the last two years & graduated from Valdosta State University where he received a degree in Music (vocal performance) & met his lovely wife, Leah. James & Leah married in July 2004 & have three sons, Solomon, Micaiah (twins born 2011), & Boaz (born 2014). James graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in May 2015. Coming from working as a youth minister since 2015 & transitioning to the university setting in 2021, James & Leah are so excited that God called them to Western Kentucky University to share the love of God through King Jesus with the students there.
Evan England
Evan grew up in a small town outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Public Policy Leadership and minors in Southern Studies and Journalism. Some of Evan's favorite moments from RUF Ole Miss were meeting with his interns. RUF also served as a place to find rest during his busy weeks. Evan loves watching SEC football, listening to music (his favorites are Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, and Andrew Peterson), taking late-night drives, and playing pickleball! He is excited to meet students at Western Kentucky and grow closer to Christ during the internship.
Janie Fortner
Janie graduated from Winthrop University in 2022 with a degree in Social Work and a minor in Religion. By the Lords grace Janie immediately stumbled upon RUF her freshman year in college. She experienced the gospel full of hope and truth and that changed everything in her life. RUF continued to be a blessing for her all through college and was a place where she experienced deep community, and was met with a lot of love and grace. Throughout her time at RUF different staff and interns consistently invested in her, asked her questions, listened, cared deeply, and pointed her to Jesus. Janie is super excited to be an intern at Western Kentucky University! In Janie’s free time she enjoys going on adventures with her dog Lewis, spending time with people, playing board games, building lego sets and doing most anything outside! She also enjoys any game or competition. Some of her favorites to play right now are pickleball, spikeball, Lacrosse, and ultimate frisbee. Janie is excited to see all the ways God is at work at Western Kentucky University!
