University of South Carolina
Join us Monday nights at 8 PM (snacks start at 7:30 PM) at 1013 Barnwell St.
As a Christian ministry at UofSC, we strive to reach students with the good news of Jesus and to equip our students to serve others. RUF stands for Reformed University Fellowship and is the campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America.
Jesus said that he did not come to save the righteous, but sinners. At RUF, we do not wish to pretend to have it all together. We are people in need of grace. Consequently, all are welcome to be part of our group, regardless of personal or religious background. RUF exists for the "convinced" and the "unconvinced," the lost, the found, the burned, bored, cynical, or spiritual. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact us. We would love to get to know you!
Meet Our Team
Sammy Rhodes is the RUF campus minister at the University of South Carolina. He is from Sumter, SC and graduated from The University of South Carolina, where he met his wife, Alyssa. They have 4 kids, Jayne Mac, Asher, Eloise and Sadie. Sammy enjoys good movies, good books, good food, glazed yeast donuts, and all of the TV. He probably tweets too much.
Caroline (Terry) Capper was born and raised in Canton, Mississippi. After graduating from Belhaven University, she moved to South Carolina in the fall of 2018 to start working for RUF at the UofSC. She has loved her time as an Intern and is so incredibly excited that she gets to continue her ministry in the role of Campus Staff. RUF changed Caroline's life in college and she loves the fact that she's able to work for this ministry as it still continues to impact college students. In her free time, Caroline can be found either taking naps or sipping on coffee.
Sav was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and grew up as a small town country girl that loved the outdoors, sunshine, and taking trips to the lake with her family. She travel 785 miles from home to attend Delta State University where she received a major in Nutrition and Dietetics and a minor in Spanish. She graduated in the winter of 2020 and the hardest part about leaving the University was saying goodbye to her RUF family. She is excited to move to Columbia, South Carolina to grow and spread the love of Jesus through meeting students at USC and creating meaningful friendships in RUF there. Sav enjoys singing, spending time in nature with her dog, Joanie, hiking with friends, reading, yoga, and hyped jogging jam sessions.
Clay grew up and graduated high school in Decatur, AL. He then attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Actuarial Sciences. RUF was a source of constant encouragement throughout his time at Auburn, and it also connected him with his closest friends. He enjoys movies, music, books, hiking, and learning new obscure sports (Pickle ball, Badminton, etc). Clay loves RUF and is so pumped to join this ministry at the University of South Carolina!
