University of South Carolina
Join us on Monday Nights at 8pm at 1013 Barnwell St. (two blocks away from Capstone).
As a Christian ministry at USC, we strive to reach students with the good news of Jesus and to equip our students to serve others. RUF stands for Reformed University Fellowship and is the campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America.
Jesus said that he did not come to save the righteous, but sinners. At RUF, we do not wish to pretend to have it all together. We are people in need of grace. Consequently, all are welcome to be part of our group, regardless of personal or religious background. RUF exists for the "convinced" and the "unconvinced," the lost, the found, the burned, bored, cynical, or spiritual. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact us. We would love to get to know you!

Meet Our Team
Sammy Rhodes is the RUF campus minister at the University of South Carolina. He is from Sumter, SC and graduated from The University of South Carolina, where he met his wife, Alyssa. They have 4 kids, Jayne Mac, Asher, Eloise and Sadie. Sammy enjoys good movies, good books, good food, glazed yeast donuts, and all of the TV. He probably tweets too much.
Caroline (Terry) Capper was born and raised in Canton, Mississippi. After graduating from Belhaven University, she moved to South Carolina in the fall of 2018 to start working for RUF at USC as an intern. In the fall of 2021, she came on as Campus Staff to continue her ministry. RUF changed Caroline's life in college and she loves the fact that she's able to work for this ministry as it still continues to impact college students. In her free time, Caroline can be found either taking naps, sipping on coffee, or hanging out with her husband, Mark.
Robert grew up in Rockwall, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. He attended Texas A&M University (gig 'em) where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in December of 2022. While at A&M, RUF was where Robert met so many of his closest friends and grew in his relationship with the Lord tremendously. Robert enjoys playing sports of any kind, spending too much money on food, and playing guitar and piano. Robert is pumped to move to Columbia and see what the Lord has in store for him at USC!
Naomi was born and raised in Harrisonburg, VA. She grew up as a classic pastor’s kid, and as the youngest of five children, she always aspired to be as fun as her older siblings.
She graduated from James Madison University(Go Dukes!) in 2023 with a degree in Special Education, Adaptive Curriculum. Throughout her time at JMU, Naomi was heavily involved in RUF which provided her with a community that continually challenged and encouraged her, a community that showed her more of the heart of Jesus.
As an intern, Naomi is excited to get to walk alongside girls through the small and big moments of college. She hopes to help her students find Jesus more beautiful despite the unique challenges that the college years bring.
Naomi is a wholehearted extrovert and an avid lover of spending time with people. When given a free day, Naomi can be found at a coffee shop engaging in a long conversation with a friend, baking chocolate chip cookies, planning and filming her next fun Tik-Tok idea, organizing a game night, or cozying up at home to watch another episode of Gilmore Girls or to read another Dane Ortlund book. She is a lover of all things caramel, a good sunset, and any and all kinds of flowers. As an enneagram 4, Naomi loves getting to pursue the depths of people’s hearts to better understand and care for them, and she loves walking alongside people as they process the joys and sorrows of this life. She loves valuing all emotions in the human experience, which often looks like weeping with those who weep, and rejoicing with those who rejoice, and inviting others to do the same. Naomi is so excited for her time as an intern and can’t wait to spend the next few years serving and loving the students at South Carolina. Go Gamecocks!!
