Chris is in his 13th year as RUF Campus Minister at the University of Maryland. Chris grew up in the Baltimore area and was greatly impacted by the ministry of Young Life and his church youth ministry. After community college he finished his engineering degree from Geneva College and worked in transportation engineering for several years. During this time he began sensing God's call to go to seminary and study the Bible and theology. This call took him to Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. After seminary Chris taught Bible and coached baseball at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis and then did youth ministry for 8 years at Heritage Presbyterian church in Oklahoma City. Chris loves sports, reading history and playing the guitar in his spare time.
If you have any other questions please feel free to contact Chris by email at email@example.com by phone at (301)-448-9047.
Stephen is a Maryland native and an east coast boy at heart. During college at the University of Maryland he was a student at RUF before getting his call to ministry and transferring to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago to obtain a youth ministry degree. After Moody Stephen was an intern with CRU and married a college friend, Hannah, whom he met at Moody. After a year in St Paul, MN they moved to St. Louis to attend Covenant Theological Seminary where he obtained his M.Div and Hannah received her Masters in Counseling. After seminary Stephen took a call doing college ministry in Annapolis, MD. After two years he took a call to do RUF with his old ministry and campus minister at UMD of which he is most excited! While not working Hannah and Stephen love to read, watch a good show, cook, grill, go for hikes, cycle, play sports, and just be with people. Currently they are most excited about welcoming their first child this Christmas!
Amanda was born in Wasilla, Alaska and moved to Richford, Vermont with her family when she was 14 years old. She then attended and graduated from the University of Vermont (UVM) where she received a Bachelor’s in Social Work. She was part of RUF at UVM all four years of college and loved it so much that she decided she wanted to work for RUF. After graduating from UVM in 2019, Amanda applied to become a RUF intern and was placed at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She also met her fiancé, Caleb Jakana, during her first year of the internship and they married in June 2021! — Their experiences as RUF interns at LSU is something they’ll cherish forever. Amanda is so excited to continue working for RUF as Campus Staff at the University of Maryland! She and Caleb look forward to meeting the students and exploring their new city!
Valerie was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh to get her degree in Computer Engineering. In her free time she loves reading, water-skiing, making music with friends, and playing video games with her husband, Isaac. Val is excited for the internship to help her grow in understanding of how God uniquely uses her in ministry, for the opportunity to minister to students that are in a huge season of change, and for the study program to deepen her theological knowledge and faith.
Josh was born and raised in Laurel, Maryland, and graduated with his B.S. in Science of Bible at Lancaster Bible College. He is currently studying at Reformed Theological Seminary in DC where he is pursuing a MDiv degree. In his spare time Josh loves to skateboard, listen to podcasts, and go to the movies. Most importantly, Josh is excited to get hands on ministry experience with RUF and pair it with what he is studying at Reformed Theological Seminary.
