University of Kentucky
Join us Wednesday nights at 8 in JSB 321
Welcome to RUF at Kentucky! We are a community of students on campus seeking to love God and love our neighbor. Our goal is to help students come to understand, know, and follow Jesus Christ as they walk through their college years, and to help lay a foundation for a lifetime of following Jesus and serving him in all areas of life.
Jesus said that he did not come to save the righteous, but sinners. At RUF, we do not wish to pretend to have it all together. We are people in need of grace. Consequently, all are welcome to be part of our group, regardless of personal or religious background. RUF exists for the "convinced" and the "unconvinced," the lost, the found, the burned, bored, cynical, or spiritual. Whoever you are and whatever your story, RUF exists for you.
Meet Our Team
Nick and Maddy are so excited to be serving students at the University of Kentucky! Nick first got involved with RUF when he was a college student himself at Western Kentucky University. After graduating, he served a two-year internship with RUF at Indiana University, earned his Master of Divinity from Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, and married Maddy after she graduated from the University of Virginia. The two met at a brother-sister summer camp in Black Mountain, North Carolina. After being called to the Great Up North for three years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Nick and Maddy are thankful to be in Nick's home state. Nick loves John Prine, OrangeTheory Fitness, and the Minnesota Twins/Vikings. Maddy loves to cook and is a wedding and family photographer.
David grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. Looking to get away from home, he moved to Boone, North Carolina to study communications at Appalachian State University (Roll 'Neers!). There RUF brought him community, helped him grow in God's word, and most importantly made him realize that this world really isn't all it's made out to be compared to eternity. The ministry was there for him during his highest and lowest points during college. Out of a desire to continue to help students through RUF's ministry, he took up the call to become an RUF Intern at the University of Kentucky.
David enjoys running, yoga, cycling, camping and hiking. His automatically assumed posture is sitting in a chair reading a book (likely Tim Keller) and drinking a cup of tea. He is an avid pursuer of standup comedy, and his favorite band to listen to is Judah and the Lion.
Ellie graduated from the University of Kentucky in Spring 2022 with a degree in Communication. She loves cold brew coffee, music, her friends and family, and anything that lets her spend time with her dog, Izzy. Ellie is so excited about the opportunity to stay at UK to love on and encourage students! She loves RUF and is beyond excited to continue in the ministry as an intern.
