Welcome to RUF Hawai'i! RUF is a student organization that seeks to spread the Gospel—the good news of Jesus Christ—through ourselves and into the campus by word, deed, and lifestyle. We believe the gospel is what brings about personal change, social healing, and cultural renewal. We would love for you to come check us out!

Weston Freels

Weston Freels

Campus Minister

Born in Detroit, raised in Arizona, and growing up in California, Weston has been involved with RUF since 2011. He studied Environmental Science at UC Santa Barbara then stayed as an RUF-Intern. During those years, he met his wife Alaina leading a backpacking trip in the High Sierra’s. After getting married in Santa Barbara in 2018, they road-tripped through the National Parks and landed in Charlotte to attend Reformed Theological Seminary where he earned his M.Div. In 2023 they welcomed their delightful son, Vigo William, into the family.

Weston loves hanging out with college students; whether grabbing some poke, shredding some trail in the mountains, smashing spikeball, or just chatting about life. What he loves most though is walking alongside students as they discern and mature in their relationship with God. Feel free to drop him a line at [email protected]

Virginia Pinkley

Intern

Virginia is originally from Brentwood, TN, but also claims her parents' new home, Waynesville, NC. She graduated in December 2025 from the University of Tennessee with a psychology degree and a double minor in neuroscience and interpersonal development. RUF at UT was a garden in which the Lord fostered Christ-like mentors, deep-rooted friendships, and a place to be grown and shaped by who Jesus is. She is looking forward to taking what she has learned from the Southern church into a new ministry context. Virginia can be found running, reading, thrifting, napping, listening to Revisionist History, at the YMCA, making coffee, or researching a new hobby because she never has enough. She cannot wait to spend every possible moment outside and barefoot on Oahu seeking new adventures with students!!!
