University of California, Berkeley

Join us Tuesdays at 8:00 PM in the Seaborg Room at the Faculty Club

Welcome to RUF at Berkeley! We are a student organization that strives to take the Gospel seriously (the good news of Jesus Christ), without taking ourselves too seriously. We believe it is the Gospel that gives our lives meaning, and it is the Gospel that brings about change, healing, and renewal in our world.

There's a place for everyone at RUF! Whether you are a cynic, a skeptic, a new believer, a life-long Christian, or just someone who is weary with all of life's challenges and looking for hope and encouragement, we would love to meet you and get to know you!

John Kong

John Kong

Campus Minister

John is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (2008) and Westminster Seminary California (2019). He was born in Nashville, TN, but grew up in Taiwan from the age of 3 until he graduated high school. After college, he worked in an investment bank for 7 years before sensing God calling him to ministry, and he served as the Pastor of Christian Education at New Life Presbyterian Church in Escondido, CA, before coming to RUF Berkeley.

John loves hanging out with college students, whether it is grabbing a bite to eat, snowboarding in the mountains, playing sports, or just chatting about life. What he loves most, however, is walking alongside the students as they discern and mature in their relationship with God.

Morgan Kendrick

Morgan Kendrick

Campus Staff

Morgan is from Wrightwood, California – a small ski town north of Los Angeles. In 2014 she moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley. As a student, she joined RUF and came to know Jesus. In 2018 she graduated with a degree in Political Science, and started working as an RUF intern at her alma mater.  Summer of 2020 she started as RUF Campus Staff for Berkeley’s ministry. Morgan loves coffee, live music, and driving around to explore Oakland.

Cameron Hughes

Cameron Hughes

Intern

Cameron grew up in Birmingham, AL before moving to East Tennessee to attend Carson-Newman University. She graduated with a degree in church music and spent a term at the University of Oxford studying church history. East Tennessee instilled in Cameron a deep love and appreciation for Dolly Parton and bluegrass music which she is excited to force upon--*ahem* share with the Bay Area. Cameron also enjoys baking bread, reading obscure Wikipedia articles, talking about nuns, and listening to the soundtracks of both Frozen movies. RUF taught Cameron to love Jesus in a new way, and she is deeply convinced of its mission. She couldn't be more thrilled to be joining the UC Berkeley team!
