Meet Our Team
John Baber
John was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and pursued his bachelor's degree in Advertising at the University of Alabama. He met his wife, Mary Ann, working in Colorado the summer after his freshman year and they tied the knot in 2014. Shortly after graduation, John and Mary Ann headed west to Norman, Oklahoma so that he could intern with RUF at the University of Oklahoma while Mary Ann finished her degree in Public Relations and Broadcasting. Two years later John was affirmed in his calling to full-time ministry and the pair packed up again to move to Charlotte, North Carolina where John received his Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary thanks to Mary Ann paying the bills. John enjoys riding bikes with Mary Ann, cheering for the Crimson Tide and the Oklahoma City Thunder, and playing with his son, Jackie.
Gabby Ross
Gabby was born and raised in Virginia, and has lived there her entire life. She graduated from James Madison University (go dukes!) with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Throughout her time at JMU, Gabby was very involved with RUF and served alongside their ministry team, seeking to spread the good news of Jesus to those in and around the Harrisonburg community. Through JMU RUF, Gabby received a loving community that faithfully supported and counseled her in her walk with Christ, and she hopes to do the same at UNC Charlotte. Her hope is to grow in relationship with staff and students at Charlotte while sharing the hope and life found in Christ alone!
In her free time, you can probably find Gabby dancing around her house, going on adventure drives, or listening to Taylor Swift while intensely breaking down the hidden messages in each of her songs. She is notorious for remembering your coffee order and will always be down for a mid-day coffee run. Growing up with only brothers, it is Gabby's nature to love the Marvel movies and will always be up to talk theories about Marvel's next film. Over all these things, Gabby loves her people. Quality time is her love language and just enjoys the presence of others. Gabby is SUPER excited to join RUF at Charlotte and is pumped to see the way God works in and through her.
