Being a long way from home can be really difficult, especially when you are facing the challenge of navigating a new culture and language. SMU has over 1000 international students representing more than 80 different nations. RUF International exists to welcome international students and scholars in the name of Jesus Christ.
If you are an international student, we want to walk alongside you as you navigate life outside of the classroom! Meet Our Team
Will Peters
Will was born in Dallas and raised in Paris, Texas. He graduated from Texas Christian University in May 2015 with a degree in Religion and is finishing a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary.
Will and his wife Leah met on a blind date in 2018 and they were married in 2020. While they were dating, Will joined the staff of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas where he served on the Youth Staff for six years. In the summer of 2024, Will joined the RUF-I staff and he and Leah are excited to serve and love international students at SMU.
When he’s not working, Will loves to spend time with Leah and their Goldendoodle Teddy. He also enjoys live music, coffee, basketball, movies (especially Marvel) and exploring nature.
Heidi Hill
Heidi is a Franklin, TN native who graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in August 2016. She majored in journalism and classics, intending to work as a reporter until she connected with the RUF International on campus and began serving as a volunteer for three years. She moved to Dallas in August 2017 after accepting a job as an RUF-I intern and is thrilled to continue serving the international student community at SMU as campus staff. When she's not working, you can find her listening to podcasts, hanging out by White Rock Lake, reading National Geographic and cooking with friends.
