Hello from RUF at SLU! We are a community on campus that seeks to be a place of rest for all SLU students. RUF is a place for both the "convinced" and the "unconvinced." It's a place for Christian students to grow in their faith through deeper knowledge of Scripture, heartfelt worship, and Christian fellowship. It's a place for not-yet-Christian students to come consider the claims of historic, orthodox Christianity in the context of a community. And it's a place where we hope and pray that Jesus becomes more beautiful and believable to all of us alike!

Noah Rinehart
Noah is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, but after nearly a decade in the Lou, he has come to embrace all things St. Louis. He graduated from Rhodes College with a degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy in 2018. He then moved to St. Louis to complete the RUF internship at WashU. Somewhere along the way, he met some SLU students, and through God's kindness and providence, RUF at SLU was born while Noah finished seminary. He loves meeting with SLU students, opening up the Bible, discussing theology, and being a part of the campus community. He's usually down for a game night or watching STL City soccer, and he lives in perpetual pursuit of quality cold brew. Noah would love to get to know you!
Marie Fennema
Marie is originally from Tyler, TX, and then moved to Cynthiana, KY in high school. She graduated from Covenant College near Chattanooga, TN in 2020 with a degree in English and a minor in music. During college, Marie experienced the gospel of Jesus in personal and profound ways through the ministry of RUF and other faithful spiritual mentors. After graduating and working for a few years at her alma mater, Marie continued sensing a call to vocational ministry. She and her husband, Michael, moved to Saint Louis in 2023 to both begin full-time as MDiv students at Covenant Seminary, while Marie began working with RUF at SLU. In her free time, Marie loves trying out a new recipe, playing pickleball or a fun board game, reading a good book at a coffee shop, making music with people, or spending time around the table with friends.
Ben Pate
Ben grew up outside of Birmingham, Alabama, graduating from Davidson College in 2022. He came to faith during college largely because of the love of Christ shown to him by his RUF intern, which also influenced him to pursue the RUF internship after college. From 2022-2024, Ben served as the RUF Intern at Columbia University in New York, and moved to St. Louis afterwards to pursue an MDiv at Covenant Seminary. Ben is thrilled to work with SLU RUF, get to know students, and reflect the love of God in St. Louis!
In his free time, Ben loves reading, playing guitar, going to concerts, drinking coffee, and exploring the city.
