Peter Shaner
Peter grew up in Lexington, VA, and attended Randolph-Macon College where he led Young Life and played on the golf team. After graduating he moved to Charlotte, NC, where he attended Reformed Theological Seminary and met his wife Sam. For four years, Pete served as Campus Ministry Assistant with RUF at Clemson University, where he cared for students and fell in love with college ministry. The Shaners love exploring all that Milwaukee has to offer (walking to coffee shops, cookouts, and sporting events) with their two kiddos Harper (3) and Levi (newborn).
McKenna (Coartney) Smith
McKenna Smith (formerly Coartney) grew up in the small town of Eureka, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in dance and psychology. During her time there, the Lord used RUF to deepen her understanding of the Gospel and show her the beauty of His grace. After graduating, McKenna had the privilege of serving as an intern with RUF at Middle Tennessee State University for two years. She is excited for the opportunity to return to Milwaukee and walk alongside students in the city she came to love during her own college years. In July 2024, she married her husband, Garrett. McKenna enjoys dancing, paddleboarding, drinking coffee, hiking, lifting, and spending time in God’s creation.
