RUF at LSU is a Christian ministry for all students regardless of personal or religious background. We want to be a safe place for you to grow in your faith, find community, and search for answers. At RUF we believe that you are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace, and you are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. Come as you are!

Justin Helms
Justin grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina, right outside of Charlotte. He attended Anderson University in Upstate South Carolina where he played college baseball for four years and received a bachelor's degree in Christian Studies. Upon graduation, Justin married his high school sweetheart, Carey, who took a job with RUF at the University of Memphis. Justin and Carey worked alongside each other for three years in Memphis before moving to Baton Rouge to work for RUF at LSU! Justin enjoys watching and playing any kind of sports (go Braves, go Panthers, go Grizz, geaux Tigers), watching movies, and playing with their golden retriever, Dansby. Justin is most excited to come alongside college students in their understanding of the beauty of the Gospel and how it radically changes their lives.

Carey Helms
Carey Helms grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina. She graduated from The University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in Secondary English Education and a newfound love of surfing! RUF was the sweetest and most growing part of Carey's college experience. It's where she fell deeper in love with The Lord and experienced the beauty of Christian community. She is excited to walk through college with female students and point them to the love of their Savior. Her favorite things include playing sports, going on walks and runs with friends, watching reality TV, and cheering on the Memphis Tigers & Grizzlies!
Hampton McCollum
Hampton was born in Austin, TX, and went to school at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. He graduated in 2025 with a major in kinesiology. He is the middle child of three and although born in Austin, Hampton, moved to St.Louis, MO at a young age for his dad's seminary schooling. He's moved around a few different places, but calls New Braunfels, TX, his home. Being a pastor's kid in the PCA, RUF has always surrounded him and has been an integral part of who he is and how community has grown his walk with Christ. During his time in college, RUF continued to shape him and further led him to want to serve as an Intern. Hampton is a big music and sports fan, with a love for listening to records, drumming, and playing/watching football and basketball. He and his wife Emily are very excited to move to Baton Rouge, LA, and help students grow in Christ on the LSU campus.
