Welcome to RUF at PITT! Here since 2008, we seek to love God, love people, and love PITT. We don't believe you can make this happen on your own, but it happens as you understand and rest in the love God has for you in Jesus. And because we all need to learn this, RUF is a safe place for all kinds of people, for those who are convinced, confused, and for the cynical.

Please join us for Large Group, look into one of our small groups, or contact the staff if you would like to meet to chat.

Gavin Breeden

Gavin Breeden

Campus Minister

Gavin grew up in West Tennessee and attended college at UT-Martin where he studied Philosophy. While at UT-Martin he was involved with RUF where he met Shalaine, a cross country/track star from Kentucky. They married in June 2006 and later moved to Charlotte, NC for Gavin to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. After graduation, the Breedens moved to Meridian, Mississippi where Gavin served as an Assistant Pastor in a PCA church for four years. Gavin was the RUF campus minister at Tennessee Tech for seven years before becoming the campus minister at Pitt in 2022.

Gavin and Shalaine have three energetic children -- Addie Pearl (born March 2011), Miles (born May 2013), and Stella (born November 2015) -- and a cheeky Sheepadoodle named Jorby. The Breedens love having people in their home, playing board games, reading, watching movies, and exploring cities.

Callie Miller

Callie Miller

Campus Staff

Callie studied and did research science for nearly 10 years, first at Francis Marion University, then later at the University of Pittsburgh (PITT), where she earned her MS in molecular neuropharmacology.

It was in Pittsburgh that she fell in love with Christ, and God radically changed her heart and calling through the gospel, His church, and community. There also she met James, a linguistics and German student at PITT, whom she married in the summer of 2014.

After Callie finished an RUF internship at Penn State, she served as campus staff at Sweet Briar Women’s College in Lynchburg, VA. Callie has been recently called to serve at PITT.

Callie is delighted by conversation, dimples, and big earrings. She loves discussing how people relate, and she also loves to dance.
