RUF is On The Move in Africa

Back in February, a group of RUF staff headed to Cape Town, South Africa for an RUF-Global Training Week. This is the first time RUF has done a week of staff training outside the United States. I suspect it was a historical event for us and, Lord willing, the first of many opportunities to take RUF staff training to Presbyterian denominations around the world who would like to be involved in campus ministry. During the training, we had 35 people in attendance from six different countries across Africa.

Training went from Monday through Friday for 4 current RUF-G campus ministers in Africa, 3 potential new RUF-G campus ministers, and several African pastors who are connected to current or potential RUF-G ministries. These pastors were eager to understand RUF and its relationship to the church because there’s nothing like it elsewhere in the world. We worked with representatives from Senegal, The Gambia, Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

And lastly, an exciting update: RUF-G in The Gambia is Official! Colin Jennings, RUF-Global Campus Minister from Senegal, flew to The Gambia to give an official letter to Pastor Edrisa, formally establishing the relationship between RUF and The Presbyterian Church of the Gambia as they work to reach students in the city of Banjul.
