Alumni Spotlight: Audrey Cox

This Q&A is part of a series of interviews featuring RUF Alumni. Today’s post features Audrey Cox, a marketing and communications specialist in the high tech industry.

Let’s start off with who are you and what do you do?
I’m Audrey Cox, and I work in marketing communications in the high tech industry. I manage internal and external communications, digital marketing campaigns, marketing collateral, press releases, and work closely with our industry partners.

What college did you graduate from?
The University of Houston – Go Coogs! I majored in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. I’m going back to school part-time this fall to pursue my MBA at Southern Methodist University.

Who was your campus minister when you attended RUF?
Blake Arnoult…honestly one of the most hilarious people you’ll ever meet. He’ll be joking around with you one second, then out of nowhere will somehow connect it to a spiritual truth or concept. He knows how to ask the hard questions and speak truth in love. His preaching and teaching of Scripture challenged me to seek the Lord more deeply and intentionally than ever before.

What is your favorite memory from RUF?
Summer Conference. Most definitely. Seriously the best week of your life….what’s better than a week on the beach with your best friends, growing in the Lord together?

How has RUF impacted how you approach your career?
RUF challenged me to ask the hard questions. Before college, I had never connected my faith to other important aspects of my life such as my career. I was discouraged, had an existential crisis every two seconds. The way that RUF values applying the gospel to every single aspect of life then made me realize that God cares about every aspect of my life, including my career. And that He will use me for His glory wherever He places me… that we’re all “called to ministry” in each of our workplace contexts. RUF sparked a passion in me for the faith and work intersection – since then, by God’s grace, I’ve been able to help plan initiatives for my company’s Christians at Work Christian Fellowship organization, and was recently a founding leader for the Polished ministry for young professional women in Houston. RUF really helped me develop a comprehensive Christian worldview and a love for Christ and making His name known in the business context.

What would you say to an incoming freshman?
Join RUF! Take classes that will challenge you to think outside your comfort zone. Be discerning about relationships, teaching, and how you spend your time. Most of all, don’t miss the opportunity to seek to know the Lord more and make His name known on your campus.
