Welcome to RUF at VSU! We are a campus ministry for college students that seeks to love God, love others, and love the campus. We are committed to fostering community, studying God's word, and applying the Gospel of Jesus to our lives.

Whether you have been a Christian all your life, are struggling with doubts, are unconvinced of Christianity, or anywhere in between we want to walk with you during these crucial years of college. All are welcome!

John Gordy

John Gordy

Campus Minister

John has been serving with RUF since 2019 as the campus minister at Valdosta State University (Go Blazers!). He is originally from Louisville, GA and is a graduate of the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) He was heavily impacted by the ministry of RUF as a student at UGA. John studied History during college, played lots of ultimate frisbee with RUF friends, and attended many football games cheering on the Dawgs. After graduation, he worked in banking in both Athens and Augusta, GA. During this time, he met his wife Sarah, while she was working as a nurse, through some common friends that they knew from RUF. They were married in 2009. In 2011, sensing a call to ministry, the Gordy’s moved to St. Louis, MO where John graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2014. John ministered to students while serving in youth ministry at churches in Decatur, AL, and Rochester, MN after seminary. The Gordys have two girls, Grace and Charlotte.

In his spare time, John enjoys listening to 80’s music, reading, following the Atlanta Braves, and watching both Marvel movies & Georgia football.

Natalie Rhea

Natalie Rhea

Intern

Natalie grew up in rural Indiana, just outside of West Lafayette. She graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a B.A. in International Studies and a minor in Political Science. In her free time she enjoys playing the drums, watching Disney movies, listening to old music, going to Taco Bell with friends, and trying all the flavors of Mountain Dew! She had never heard of RUF before coming to college, but her involvement in Indiana University's RUF and the community she found there defined her college experience. As an RUF student, she loved meeting one-on-one with her interns, so as an intern she is most looking forward to meeting with students. She can't wait to get to work at Valdosta State!
