Welcome to RUF at the University of Nebraska! We seek to reach UNL students for Christ and equip them to serve in His Church. There are many ways to get plugged into RUF - through gathering (weekly RUF Large Group and various events throughout the year), connecting (fellowship groups with other students & meeting with Brian and Ben-The-Intern), and growing (small group Bible studies).

Brian Brown was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, and graduated from Auburn University in 1997. After graduation he spent 9 years as an accountant before being called to Covenant Theological Seminary, in St. Louis, MO, where he received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in May of 2013. Brian became husband to his wonderful wife Rebecca in December of 2000. Rebecca was born in Ruston, LA, and received her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Brian and Rebecca are blessed to be the parents of four fabulous children: Sarah Frances born in 2002, Catherine born in 2004, Patrick born in 2006, and Lillian born in 2008. Together they enjoy athletics, family movie nights and anything in and around water. They moved to Lincoln the summer of 2014 for Brian’s call as the RUF Campus Minister at The University of Nebraska and are excited to worship, serve, and hang out with UNL students.
Rebecca Brown grew up in Ruston, Louisiana, until she attended Auburn University and UAB in Birmingham. She married Brian, an accountant, in 2000 and they made their home in Birmingham. They had babies in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008, and hoped for a 10-year anniversary trip without said kids to somewhere warm and tropical. God's plan, however, was much better as he called Brian into full-time ministry and sent their family to St. Louis in 2009 for Brian to go to Covenant Seminary. Brian was called to serve as the RUF Campus Minister at the University of Nebraska in 2014, and Rebecca joined him officially as campus staff in 2016. They still look forward to an anniversary trip someday without the kids!
Rebecca enjoys reading, cooking, and lots of coffee-time with students and friends. She loves being organized but lacks the drive to organize because it's not a relational task. She used to have ten slots in her brain that perfectly retained information, but now that she's down to four gimpy ones, she has to use a Mead Five Star notebook she calls her "brain" to remember much of anything. Don't worry; her phone number is written on the inside cover in case she leaves it somewhere.
RUF has been a part of her story since her college days at Auburn, and it is a humbling gift that she can serve the Kingdom through this amazing ministry. She loves Jesus; she loves his Word. She loves Lincoln, the University of Nebraska, and its students. And she loves working for RUF at UNL!
Lizzie was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Marketing. Lizzie loves crafts, baking, typography and anything outdoors. One of Lizzie's life goals is to perfect the art of baking chocolate chip cookies. Although she is close, she is excited to have a whole new set of students to be her taste testers and help her achieve her goal.
Ben grew up in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC, and from 2011 to 2013 attended George Washington University in Washington, DC, then transferred to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC for 2014 and 2015. He graduated with a degree in English, concentrating in Literary Studies, and enjoys reading, playing music, hiking, camping, all kinds of movies, and spending time with dear friends. In August 2015, Ben moved to Lincoln to begin his work at UNL, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to share Christ’s love on campus, hopefully through being a humble, living example of how God pursues and saves broken people.
