RUF at K-State is a Christian ministry to college students of all backgrounds and beliefs and doubts. We are here for the convinced and unconvinced, the confident and the doubting, the strong and the weak. We believe that God is at work at Kansas State and we long to see students embrace a growing knowledge of Him through faith in Jesus.

RUF is not a Christian club; we don’t have membership, and we don’t exist merely for ourselves. Students of all backgrounds and beliefs and doubts are welcome to consider the truth of God’s word and the person of Jesus alongside other students. Students gather regularly through Bible studies and a variety of events in order to seek truth, ask questions, and build relationships with each other.

Jon Dunning

Rev. Jon Dunning grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin, graduated from Miami University (Ohio, not Florida) with degrees in mathematics and secondary education, and received a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis.

While in seminary, he fell for a smart, beautiful, out-going engineer from St. Louis named Tricia and they were married in 1999. They have been blessed with three kids: Lucy (2004), Jack (2007), and Thad (2011). So Jon’s biggest ‘hobbies’ include playing Legos, building forts, wrestling, and reading Winne-the-Pooh stories. When he can find or make the time, Jon watches football and reads.

Jon served for over nine years as Associate Pastor at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas. The Dunnings moved to Manhattan in August 2013 to start an RUF work at Kansas State. They are thrilled to serve college students through the gospel at “K-State.”

John Talmage

John was born and raised in Eastern Iowa and graduated from the University of Tulsa in May 2018 with a degree in Computer Science. He enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, ping-pong, and ultimate frisbee. On a very rare occasion he may attempt to engage in a “hip” activity such as going to a coffee shop or wearing stylish clothes, but the odds of catching him in the act are pretty slim. Especially both at the same time. John loved his time in RUF at TU and is excited to be serving as an intern at Kansas State!
