RUF is a community of both non-Christians and Christians learning together how the grace of Jesus sets us free to love and serve him, our neighbors, and our world. We gather regularly to build community, hear about faith, talk about doubt, serve our neighbors, and engage the city. We are a place for both the convinced and the unconvinced, those who are Christians and those who are not, too.
Matt was transformed by RUF during his undergraduate years at Clemson University. Through RUF, Matt recognized his need for God's grace and that grace changed everything. Grace, he says, "changes the way I view myself, my God, my work, my relationship, my time. Everything." Matt joined RUF's worship team and there met his wife, Megan. They have three children, Eliot (2011), Zoey (2013) and Margaret (2016). Matt graduated from Clemson in 2007 with a B.S. in Construction Science and Management. He worked as a project engineer for Rodgers Builders, Inc. from 2007-2008. During his time there, he was part of the management team that built and renovated a large hospital. After a year and a half, God called Matt and Megan to seminary, and Matt enrolled in Covenant Theological Seminary. He graduated with his M. Div. in 2011 and served as campus minister at Samford University in Birmingham, AL for four years. Beginning in the fall of 2016, Matt will minister to RUF City Campus, a city-wide ministry to over 800,000 students who study in New York City. Matt, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, cheers for the Atlanta Braves and Clemson's football team. He also likes fly fishing, reading and watching Seinfeld.
