Chris Horne is a native of Byron, GA and a graduate of Georgia Southern University and Reformed Theological Seminary-Charlotte. Sara Jane Horne hails from the great state of Pennsylvania and works as a textile designer and full-time mom of Georgia (Jan 2011), Bonnie (Oct 2012) and Rosemary (Dec 2014). The couple met at Savannah College of Art and Design, where Sara Jane studied and Chris worked as a RUF intern. All five Hornes enjoy regular impromptu dance parties, but only at home and only if the music is good.
Brett grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, as the youngest of five sons. He graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. He was involved in RUF all four years of his undergraduate education and truly invested himself in the ministry. Through his time involved in the ministry he developed and nurtured deep friendships with fellow students and grew in his own faith as he led others to do the same through their student-led ministry team. His love for the ministry led him to pursue the RUF internship after he graduated in 2018.
In his free time, Brett is most likely catching up with friends, eating delicious food, jamming out on the piano (despite an lackluster singing voice), and spending time outside. He loves sports and anything active, so one would most likely find him hanging out and playing whatever sport or game he can find, making new friends along the way.
Carissa grew up just outside of Nashville, TN, but most recently attended college at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. She graduated with a degree in Child Studies with the goal initially being to work in youth ministry, but through much prayer, it was clear that God was calling me into college ministry with RUF. She is extremely grateful for and humbled by the opportunity to work with this ministry at Appalachian State! She loves any and all outdoor adventures, drinking good coffee, and spending time with my dog, Pepper.
