Auburn University (RUF-International) - Matt Delong**

Matt DeLong grew up in Florence, KY and attended Murray State University. After graduating with a degree in Music Education in 2002, Matthew moved to Alabama to serve at a Christian camp. During his time there, he felt called to attend seminary, and headed over to Westminster Seminary California (MDiv 2010), where he met Sherrene (MA Theological Studies, 2011). Somehow, Matthew convinced Sherrene to marry him, leave her large Indian family in southern California, and move to Alabama with him. They were married on 9-10-11, adopted their dog, Bhindi, three months later, and are excited to welcome the nations at Auburn University together.

 

Belhaven University - Seth Starkey

Seth Starkey was born and raised in Greenville, SC. He graduated from Newberry College in May of 2007 and immediately began his studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. During seminary he became the ministerial intern at Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC and continued in that role until his graduation from RTS in 2010. Following graduation, he was ordained as the Assistant Minister at Second Presbyterian. Seth is married to Laura Lee. She grew up in Knoxville and graduated from UT Knoxville in 2005. They have a son, Sam, and are expecting baby #2. The Starkeys are thankful for the great privilege of impacting the lives of college students through the ministry of RUF.

 

Boston University - Nathan Dicks**

Nathan Dicks, a former Cru staff worker at the University of Sarajevo, returns to campus ministry to launch Boston University’s first RUF. Nathan grew up in the PCA near Atlanta, GA, but remained on the fringes of RUF until his last year at Clemson University. When Nathan graduated in 2007, vocational ministry was not on his horizon. For two years, he worked in his field of study as an architect, and in that time, contemplated a move toward ministry. Then, while serving overseas, Nathan recognized his need for theological training. In 2011, he made the move to the Boston area to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Nathan is engaged to Sarah Lints, whom he met through Boston’s Christ the King PCA his first week in town, and the two will be married in July. 

 

Carson-Newman College - Cam Smith

Cam Smith grew up in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State in 2008. Both he and his wife became Christians in RUF at their respective colleges. His wife Kaela grew up in Bradenton, FL and the two met halfway in the state of South Carolina. At that time Kaela was a student at Erskine College where Cam was an RUF intern. They spent their first years of marriage in Saint Louis, MO while Cam attended Covenant Seminary (2010-2013). Their daughter Zoe was born on December 30, 2013. Cam started at Carson-Newman in 2014.

 

Columbia University - Eric Lipscomb**

Eric Lipscomb originally hails from Richmond, VA, and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2009 with a B.A. in Religious Studies. Having dated his high school sweetheart their entire time at UVA, Eric and Brittany got married shortly after graduation and spent another year in Charlottesville while Brittany completed her M.T. in Elementary Education. The Lipscombs then moved to St. Louis in 2010, where Eric pursued a Masters of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary and Brittany brought home the bread as a second grade teacher. In 2014, Eric graduated with his M.Div and was called to New York City to serve as the RUF campus minister at Columbia University. Eric is an avid baseball fan, loves exploring the city, and is almost always up for hanging out with people. During their time in college, Eric and Brittany were both cared for so well through the ministry of RUF, and are now incredibly grateful for the opportunity to process life and spend time with students at Columbia!

 

Delaware State University - Daryl Wattley Jr.**

Daryl Wattley Jr. is a native of Atlanta, and a graduate of Georgia Southern University. In 2013, Daryl became the first African-American to graduate with an M.Div from the Atlanta Campus of Reformed Theological Seminary. He completed his ministry internship at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and served as the Media Coordinator for Kairos Church - both in Atlanta. He is currently a member of Southwest Christian Fellowship where he preaches regularly.  

 

East Carolina University - Tom Hart**

Tom Hart was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. While studying at the University of Georgia, he got involved with RUF, where he encountered Jesus for the first time. He also met his wife, Chané, in history class, who is originally from South Africa but grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. After college, Tom served as an RUF intern at Auburn University from 2008 to 2011, where he developed a deep love for college ministry. Having spent three years in the Midwest while Tom earned a Master’s of Divinity from Covenant Seminary, the Harts were thrilled to move back to the South, where boiled peanuts and sweet tea are easier to come by. Tom and Chané spend most of their free time thoroughly enjoying their two children, Simon (born in 2012) and Ragan (born in 2014). 

 

Furman University - David Ely

David Ely is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama but graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle!) where he met his wife, Mary Beth. They were married in 2006 and worked together at the Navigator Headquarters in Colorado Springs before going on staff themselves. After serving in college ministry at the University of South Carolina for two years (and where Mary Beth received her Masters degree in College Student Affairs), David attended Covenant Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity. Upon graduation, he had the opportunity to serve for two years as an assistant pastor in Georgia. David is thrilled to be the RUF Campus Minister at Furman University. David and Mary Beth have three wonderful little girls that keep their days full and fun. When David isn’t ministering to college students, he loves to watch college football, spend time outside, read, and make spontaneous stops at historical markers and battlefields. David's wish would be to have Paul Tripp move next door and become his best friend.

 

James Madison University - Joe Slater**

Joe Slater, raised in a large family from Arlington, VA, Joe graduated from James Madison University in 1989 with a degree in Kinesiology and married his bride, Terri, in 1989. After graduating, Joe taught and coached in Harrisonburg, VA until 1992 when he felt called to attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL. After graduating, Joe serves as a youth pastor and college ministry pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, VA until 2014. Joe and his wife have been blessed with five children (Nathan, Anna, Austin, Iain, and Naomi). Joe loves his family, sports, (especially soccer and football, but pretty must all sports), outdoors, good books, good food, and good coffee. 

 

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - Solomon Kim**

Solomon Kim was born in Los Angeles and grew up in California, the Pacific Northwest, and South Korea. He studied engineering at Cornell University (BS) and went to seminary at RTS Orlando (MDiv). Between those two degrees, he lived in Champaign, IL where he met his wife Jane, a University of Illinois alum. Solomon has served in various ministries including college ministry, a church planting network, and in a Korean-American church. Solomon and Jane are parents to Caleb (2011) and Katie (2013). They are excited to be in Boston to serve college students.

 

Oklahoma State University - Shane Hatfield

Shane Hatfield grew up on a farm in Coweta, OK and graduated from high school in 2000. He attended Oklahoma State University where he was active in his fraternity and a few campus ministries. He graduated with a bachelors in education in 2005 and moved to Tulsa, OK where he worked as a teacher and coach from 2005-2010. Shari and Shane married in 2006 and joined RiverOaks Presbyterian Church. They helped with the youth group and taught Sunday school. In 2010, he left the education field and began working with the youth minister for RiverOaks and taking distance education classes through RTS. In 2014 he graduated with a Masters of Arts and Religion from RTS Global. Shari and Shane have two children, Tucker (2008) and Emmarie (2011), and a baby on board. The Hatfield's proudly call themselves Okies, and they enjoy pretty much every outdoor activity, eating good food, drinking good coffee, and throwing water balloons at each other. 

 

Southern Methodist University (RUF-International) - Chris Morrison**

Chris Morrison is originally from Dallas, and is very excited about the call to minister to international students at SMU with RUF-International. He met his lovely wife, Sarah, while studying at Vanderbilt University. They have spent a lot of time ministering cross-culturally in various contexts. After serving with MTW in Asia for three years, they returned to Dallas for Chris to attend Redeemer Seminary. Chris and Sarah have one young son.

Chris enjoys being outdoors, playing soccer and going on bike rides with his wife and son. He also loves to study languages and cultures. 

 

Southern Methodist University - James Madden

James Madden was born and raised in Dallas, TX.  He attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA from 2004-2008, and he graduated with a BA in Spanish and History.  During his time there he was very involved with RUF, played baseball, and was in a fraternity.  From 2008-2010, he worked as an RUF Intern at Wake Forest University, afterward returning home to Dallas to begin attending Redeemer Seminary.  During that time, he started and ran an outdoor services company before moving into the Elementary Children's Ministry at Park Cities Presbyterian Church.  He has been the Elementary Coordinator there since 2012, and he recently graduated with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Redeemer.  James enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, writing, sports, coffee shops, and a little hunting and fishing.   

 

The University of Akron - Nate Bower**

Nate Bower is an Akron native and an alumnus of the University of Akron. He interned with RUF at Belhaven University from 2009-2011. He received his Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. His wife, Naomi, was born in Ontario, Canada, and has lived in ten different states across the US. She is a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, PA. They have been married 4 years. Their beautiful daughter, Ruby, was born on Nov. 5, 2013. 

 

University of Central Florida - Lee Wright

Lee Wright was born and raised in Granbury, TX, and attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL, where he earned a BS in Sports Medicine in 2006. The day he moved to St. Louis to attend Covenant Seminary in 2007, he met a pretty classmate named Sarah Viggiano, who attended Texas Christian University (Go Frogs!), and completed the RUF internship at Washington & Lee University. They dated their second year and were married in the middle of their third year of seminary. Lee and Sarah worked together in campus ministry during seminary with local college students in St. Louis. Lee and Sarah both have Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts in Counseling degrees. They graduated in 2012 while pregnant with their first daughter, Matilda “Tillie” (born January 2013) and, they are moving to Orlando pregnant with their second bundle of joy (due end of October 2014). Since graduation, Lee has been in mental health and Sarah has been in event planning.

The Wrights enjoy athletics, socializing, traveling and eating good food. Lee has (too many) sports affiliations including St. Louis Cardinals, Auburn football, and Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoys ultimate frisbee, running, disc golf, and hanging out. Sarah enjoys cooking delicious food, designing, Pittsburgh sports teams, event planning, and getting to know people. They are excited to be back in campus ministry! Go Knights!

 

University of Florida - Tim Carper

Tim Carper is a native of the great Commonwealth of Virginia and a graduate of Virgina Tech in 2006. Upon graduation he served with a campus ministry at his Alma Mater for three years where he gained a passion for college ministry. During his time in Blacksburg, VA through the help of a local PCA congregation Tim felt a call to pastoral ministry and moved to St. Louis, MO to attend Covenant Theological Seminary. From 2011-2014 he served as the College Director for Central Presbyterian Church at Washington University. Tim reconnected with his future wife, Annie, who is also a Virginia Tech graduate, while they both attended seminary. She grew up in Chevy Chase, MD and received her Masters of Counseling at Covenant. In the summer of 2014, Tim began as the campus minister at UF and suddenly was a part of the great Gator Nation.

 

University of Nebraska - Brian Brown

Brian Brown was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, and graduated from Auburn University in 1997.  After graduation he spent 9 years as an accountant before being called to Covenant Theological Seminary, in St. Louis, MO, where he received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in May of 2013.  Brian became husband to his wonderful wife Rebecca in December of 2000.  Rebecca was born in Ruston, LA, and received her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Brian and Rebecca are blessed to be the parents of four fabulous children: Sarah Frances born in 2002, Catherine born in 2004, Patrick born in 2006, and Lillian born in 2008.  Together they enjoy athletics, family movie nights and anything in and around water.  They are excited to be in Lincoln, NE, and for Brian’s call as the RUF Campus Minister at The University of Nebraska.

 

University of Tennessee - Chattanooga - John Mark Scruggs

John Mark Scruggs was born and raised in Tupelo, MS. He attended Ole Miss and there was greatly impacted and influenced by the ministry of RUF.  After college, he worked with youth at Lawndale Presbyterian Church in Tupelo. There the Lord grew his heart for students and for ministry.  He then moved to St. Louis, MO to attend Covenant Theological Seminary.  John Mark met his wife, Caroline, while at Covenant. Caroline grew up in Dallas, TX and shares his love for students. They both graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2013. John Mark and Caroline have one daughter, Mary Margaret (2013).  John Mark enjoys long dinners, long walks with his family, a good book, and a hot cup of coffee. The Scruggs are so excited to walk alongside and serve students through RUF at UTC. 

 

Washington University - SJ Lim**

SJ Lim is married to Susie, and father to Devin (4/2010) & Justin (9/2011).  Having become a Christian at 17, he spent his early years as a believer studying at UC Irvine and the University of Illinois (BA, Philosophy).  Following his undergraduate studies he was an assistant pastor of a church plant in suburban Chicago while pursuing studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (MDiv).  Both natives of Chicago and fans of the area’s sports teams and cultural scene, they have quickly embraced their new environment in Saint Louis and the Wash University community.  Aside from caring for two energetic boys and ministry in RUF, they enjoy many different hobbies.  SJ is an enthusiast of coffee, college basketball & professional boxing, television dramas, and desserts; Susie geeks on cooking, reading fiction, exercising, and teaching chemistry.
