2013 Fall Report

A study taken by the American College Counseling Association found that 37.4 percent of college students sought help for severe psychological problems in 2012. Over the last 12 years, that percentage has increased 16 percent! In the same survey, counselors reported an increase in crises requiring immediate response over the last five years noting a specific increase in self-injury and eating disorders (American College Counseling Association). The pressures to succeed academically, socially, and physically during college are evident as this young generation continues to seek answers to life’s questions.

While completing their four years of college, many students are searching for an identity that can only be found in Christ. At this pivotal point, RUF strives to build a community on the college campus that reaches students with the message of the gospel.

Right now, our campuses around the nation are gearing up for Fall conferences providing weary students with a retreat focused on gospel truth and fellowship. This year, many of our RUF’s located near South Carolina have chosen to make the 2013 PCA Global Missions Conference their Fall Conference this year. What a wonderful opportunity for our students to catch the vision of the next generation’s responsibility of bringing the gospel to all people regardless of physical and cultural differences! Here’s what some of our students have to say about what RUF is to them:

“RUF is where I can embrace my brokenness.”

“RUF is the greatest testament to God’s love and redemption on my campus.”

“RUF is the only place I could find where the whole gospel is preached unapologetically, week after week.”

“RUF is where God placed me to remind me he loves me.”

God is at work! Here's a look at other exciting things happening this fall!
